On-site SEO Elements for Your Forex Website

All About Forex | Marketing | SEO

Last month we talked about why you should know about On-Page SEO and now it’s time to go deeper into this subject. We all want our forex website to reach Google ranking’s first positions but in order to do that we have to implement a compelling strategy. If you don’t know yet what the On-site SEO elements for your forex website are, let us share them with you today.

Each one of them is going to give you more points to win this never-ending race. Therefore we recommend taking all of them into account. Additionally we suggest reading about the technical and Off-Page SEO, because On-Site SEO is only one part of a global strategy.

Well, your competitors are already effecting their SEO strategies, so let’s get started.

THE PERFECT TITLE

Titles are one of the most important factors for your On-Site SEO strategy because they are aimed at Google bots and your audience. The perfect title for your forex posts is the one that accurately describes your content. However, coming up with a good title is not an easy task and it’s going to be critical in capturing leads. You should put yourself in your target’s place to easily guess which title will grab attention faster. For example, you can write questions as titles, and answer them in the body of your text. If you need inspiration, just type a few words about a forex topic into GoogleBing or other search engines and see what the first results and their titles are. Which words do they use? Are they short or long?

Usually we find that the best results have very short (up to 50 characters) and specific titles, perfect for Google and for your audience. But that is not all. They include keywords in their titles. If you already know what your keywords are, avoid overuse. If you don’t know yet what they are, check the SemRush Tool. Your title is the main door to your content and the first contact of your audience with your forex website. For this reason, they should be unique and connected to your brand.

AFTER A GOOD TITLE, A GOOD META DESCRIPTION TAG

Your audience is going to find on SERPs identical titles from you and your competitors. This is because you compete for the same keyword, and even if you don’t want to, the titles will look alike. That’s why you should pay more attention to your Meta Description, to make the difference. Search engines offer you up to 160 characters to describe your forex brokerage, so be creative and start writing!

It would also be a good choice to download Yoast SEO. This plugin helps you to improve your Meta Description, so take a look at it. As with the title, try to include the keyword in your Meta Description. There are many types of Meta Description:

  • Many words-No message: writing many keywords separated by dots but mostly it doesn’t make sense.
    • Example: “Forex Market for beginners. Financial success. This economy reopening…brokers, traders, IB partners…” It’s messy and will confuse your audience.
  • Part of your text: grabbing a part of the body of text and that’s the Meta Description. There is nothing wrong with this type of description but if you are smart you will include one of your keywords. Besides, we recommend you picking a part of your body that is actually written. Many users click on the link believing that they are going to find those same words from the meta description and realise that they do not exist. They clicked on your link looking for an answer and realised you cheated with your meta description. That means two things, that users will no longer trust you and that the bounce rate will increase.
  • A specific description: explaining with specific words what your text is about. If you do it properly, your forex website will be the chosen one. Use short sentences, which are easy to understand and include a few of your keywords.

SEO-FRIENDLY URLS

The URLs have been with us since the conception of the internet, but as users we never cared so much about them. I mean, they were important but if you were looking for something on the internet, you didn’t really care about every character of the URLs. You were worried about the information that you’d find on that specific site. But it turns out that they are important for Google or other search engines. Not only are they important for the main pages of every website, they are important for every page of your forex website.

The difference between an SEO-Friendly URLs and one that is not is this:

  • Not SEO-Friendly URL: www.myforexwebsite.com/78?forexbeginners-908kjb=edit
  • SEO-Friendly URL: www.myforexwebsite.com/forexbeginners

Google will reward you if your URLs are SEO-Friendly, so put more effort when polishing your URLs. Make them short and simple and you will be more effective.

MY KEYWORD UNIVERSE AND HOW TO USE IT

This section would need a post by itself. The more you think you know about keywords the more you have to learn. Despite that fact, we will try to clarify some concepts. Our audience uses keywords to find us, so if we use those keywords on our website, Google will know that our content will be interesting for that audience. However, keywords change over time – that’s why occasionally we have to review our last keyword research and start using other keywords. To start with keyword research you can use different tools such as SemRushGoogle Keyword Planner and Google Trends.

KEYWORD MARKET

Each market has its specific keywords: for example for the forex market the keywords could be: “Trading platform“, “Forex CRM“, “Foreign exchange transaction”, “Currency values”, etc. Google Keyword Planner shows you what the search volume data is for each of these keywords. We recommend that you focus on keywords with an average search volume or unique keywords (e.g. negative keywords), since those with high search volumes are difficult to reach.

ON-SITE SEO STRATEGY

Keywords are an important part of On-Site SEO strategy, but we recommend that you use them in their proper measure. Here’s an example: “My trading platform is the best trading platform of all the trading platforms”. In this case we want to use our keyword “trading platform but if we overuse it, Google will penalize us. We have to use them correctly. Include your keyword in your first paragraph and in your titles and subtitles (H2 and h3) and try to reach 3% density but not more.

BOUNCE RATE

If your load-speed is too slow (more than 3 secs), if your content is not interesting, or if you haven’t updated your web design since 2015, your bounce rate will grow. Your audience finds your forex brokerage on the Internet, but when they browse your website, they leave quickly, so what happened?

Users are spoiled by modern web, outdated websites turn visitors away. The amount of lost visitors constitutes a “bounce rate“. If you want to check your bounce rate, try using Google Analytics. Ask one of your friends to navigate through your website and tell you what you can improve; or better, ask Kenmore Design for professional advice.

Maybe one of your plugins is hindering users’ navigation or your colour scheme is not correct for your purpose.

In future we will discuss how those lost users can be brought back with Retargeting.
